Life-saving training at Yokota
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Master Sgt. Chad Below, a trainer from the Armed Services Whole Blood Processing Laboratory-West at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., removes blood frozen at minus 80 degrees Celsius to demonstrate the process of thawing glycerolized-frozen red cells. Yokota and Misawa Airmen recently received Blood Deglycerolization Team training at the base hospital here. The Armed Services Whole Blood Program plays a key role in providing quality blood products for servicemembers and their families in peacetime and war. The ASBP has many components working together to collect, process, store, distribute and transfuse blood
