YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan --
The 374th Airlift Wing hosted its monthly Samurai Challenge at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Aug.15 with six teams of four competitors participating.
The challenge tested the teams’ endurance and grit by climbing “Mt. Fuji” via stairmaster for a total of 11,750 steps and then completing a 30-minute swim relay. It was the 374th Medical Support Squadron that claimed first place, overall.
The Samurai Challenge is a yearlong fitness initiative designed to build strength, foster unit camaraderie and reinforce the warrior ethos across Yokota. Events are held monthly, with units earning points toward the coveted Samurai Cup, to be awarded in May 2026.
