The American Forces Network Pacific radio programs provide service members and their dependents with family friendly entertainment and regional updates.

Traditionally, these programs provided their support through ranged radio frequencies, but AFN 360 Internet Radio and AFN Pacific mobile application change that.

AFN 360 Internet Radio provides listeners with live streamed local regional AFN stations and seven additional global stations such as AFN Legacy, Gravity and the Voice, providing the latest news and the most popular music.

AFN Pacific mobile app provides the same radio service plus news videos, local weather, currency exchange, traffic and more.

"We have waited a long time for this," said Dan Valler, AFN Tokyo regional operations manager. "For years we've been broadcasting on AM frequencies, so we've always been limited with our capabilities, but now we have the AFN Pacific app and Radio 360 and we're able to deliver near CD-quality broadcast to either your computer or smartphone."

With the recent upgrade, the radio services are no longer bound to just car stereos.

"A lot of people don't own a radio, but have a smartphone or tablet," said Senior Airman Kellen Carr, AFN Tokyo morning show radio DJ. "The app is definitely going to be beneficial for the simple reason that we are able to reach more people and in more locations now. The number of people I talk to say that they have wanted to listen to the radio show but can only hear it in their car. Now you can stream it online on your computer or mobile device at any time."

The AFN 360 Internet Radio can be heard at http://afnpacific.net/afn360.aspx and the AFN Pacific app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
