Without an in-country Military Treatment Facility (MTF), you will have to navigate TRICARE and United Concordia within a decentralized Australian Healthcare System.
Medical care for you and your authorized dependents is provided by TRICARE International SOS. You are highly recommended to enroll in the TRICARE Overseas Program PRIME REMOTE plan. Enrollment is available upon arrival. Afterwards, you will not be allowed to change plans until Open Season, typically in November. TRICARE will cover the Sponsor’s dental care as well. For dependents’ dental care, United Concordia will be responsible.
Local providers in Australia may cover some medical readiness items. Contact TRICARE International SOS for determination and authorization. Otherwise, you will need to refer to your US DoD organization/home installation for guidance.
