Transition Assistance Program

Retirement and Separation

If you are in the process of separating or retiring, please reach out to the 337th ASUF.

For members who are separating or retiring, you must attend Transition Assistance Program (TAP).  The team at Yokota Air Base, Japan can assist you!  You do not have to be Air Force to use these services. 

If you would like to attend TAP, you can contact the Program Manager in Yokota and they will be able to assist you: 374FSSFSFR@US.AF.MIL.

Managing your Transition Timeline will assist you with your transition activities and requirements.

Retiring or separating members will be able to complete their mandated by congress TAP plan via phone or using Zoom / Skype video conferencing.

 

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE:

Section 552 of NDAA amends U.S.C. title 10, Chapter 58 sections 1142 and 1144 mandates significant changes to TAP.

The TAP Curriculum is designed to provide Service members with the skills-building training, services, resources and tools they need to meet the Career Readiness Standards.  All Service members who are separating, retiring, or being released from Active Duty must complete the following requirements:

Step 1:  Self-Assessment Worksheet (MUST BE COMPLETED WITH NO LESS THAN 365 DAYS REMAINING ON ACTIVE DUTY)

Step 2:  Initial Counseling – in-person (MUST BE COMPLETED WITH NO LESS THAN 365 DAYS REMAINING ON ACTIVE DUTY) Initial Counseling (IC) may be provided via skype, face-time or over the phone. Service members shall receive individualized initial counseling pursuant to Title 10 U.S.C., Section 1142 and DoD policies. In compliance with the NDAA, this step assesses your goals/needs and assigns a Tier level (1-3) based on individual preparedness for transition.  It also explains what you must complete and the resources available to you. 2-Day Tracks if required – will be determined during Step 2

Step 3: Pre-separation counseling – in-person (MUST BE COMPLETED WITH NO LESS THAN 365 DAYS REMAINING ON ACTIVE DUTY). Pre-separation Counseling may be provided via skype, face-time or over the phone. DoD Day, DOL, VA and 2-day Tracks may be completed via JKO

Step 4: TAP Curriculum Workshop (JKO)

Step 5: Capstone Deliverables. Capstone may be completed via skype, face-time or over the phone
