GUNDAM 22 Memorial Service

On Thursday, February 15th, our community will gather to honor the fallen CV-22 aircrew of Gundam 22 following the aircraft mishap on Nov. 29, 2023. All members of Team Yokota are invited to attend.

The day will include two major events: a memorial service at the Taiyo Community Center and a retreat ceremony at the track and field area across from the Samurai Fitness Center. Please see below for details:

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Date: Thursday, Feb. 15

Time: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (All members in place by 9:45 a.m.)

Location: Taiyo Community Center

Attire: UOD (Service Dress only required for Distinguished Visitors)

How to get there: All those seeking to attend are required to take an available bus or walk to the site location, or risk being denied entry due to overcapacity.

Pickup #1 - Base Theater

Time: 8:50 a.m. / 9:30 a.m.

Pickup #2 - Enlisted Club

Time: 8:50 a.m. / 9:30 a.m.

Pickup #3 - Professional Development Center

Time: 8:50 a.m. / 9:30 a.m.

Overflow location: Building 1295 (West Side) – Those unable to enter the Taiyo Community Center due to overcapacity will be directed to the overflow location.

RETREAT CEREMONY

Date: Thursday, Feb. 15

Time: 5 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. (All formation participants to form up by 4:45 p.m.)

Location: Track and Field area, across from the Samurai Fitness Center (Bldg. 689)

Attire: UOD

How to get there: Attendees are encouraged to park near the Base Exchange and walk to the event. Those traveling by car are strongly encouraged to carpool and avoid parking areas near the Professional Development Center and Samurai Fitness Center.

This will be a time to reflect on those we have lost and an opportunity to offer some closure to those affected by the tragic loss of eight valued members of our Yokota family.

We will take the time to honor our fallen, commemorate their lives, and gather as a united community.
