2013 Days of Remembrance; Never Again: Heeding the Warning Signs

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Airman 1st Class Rayonna Robinson, 374th Dental Squadron, lights candles during the 2013 Days of Remembrance Commemoration Ceremony held at the base chapel, Yokota Air Base, Japan, April 11, 2013. Holocaust Remembrance week is April 7-14, 2013. Congress established the Days of Remembrance as the nation's annual commemoration of the Holocaust and created the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims. The theme designated by the USHMM for the 2013 observance is "Never Again: Heeding the Warning Signs." The goal of this year's DoR is to look back 75 years at the events of 1938 and examine how citizens and countries responded to signs of impending war and the Holocaust.
