Senior Master Sgt. Peter Casiano pulls security while his team conducts a quality check of one of their U.S. Agency for International Development projects. This photo was taken about 15 minutes before July 25, 2006 attack by an improvised explosives device in which Sergeant Casiano took control of the convoy and escorted the medical officer to the injured troops. Sergeant Casiano was assigned to one of the13 provincial reconstruction teams operating in Afghanistan. His team was responsible for Lotar and Paktia provinces. Sergeant Casiano was presented the Bronze Star on July 30 for his work during his 12-month deployment and his actions during the IED attack. (Courtesy photo)
