Yokota joint training brings the heat
Yokota Air Base and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni firefighters battle a simulated fire in a flashover trainer at Aug. 4, 2015, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. Flashover, a near-simultaneous ignition of many objects in a confined room, creates a dangerous situation where both heat and smoke continue to increase until combustion. The joint training exercise taught firefighters how to recognize when a flashover is going to occur and how to suppress it long enough to escape.
