Taking the Leap: A Survivor's Story of Sexual Assault
U.S. Air Force Maj. Donna Sickler, 374th Medical Group group practice manager and alternate sexual assault response coordinator out of Yokota Air Base, Japan, bottom center, completes a group formation jump over Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sept. 2007. With countless jumps throughout her skydiving career, Sickler would later discover how therapeutic jumping could be for her when it came to her reaching her new normal after being sexually assaulted in April of 2011. Through family, jumping and therapy, Sickler has used her own progress to help others address their own traumas and get the care they need with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program.
