Firefighters turn up the heat at Yokota’s annual challenge
Members of the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department cheer U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Seth Mattingly, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection, during the tire flip station of the annual Firefighter Challenge, Oct. 10, 2025, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. The event included a series of seven demanding stations, testing every aspect of firefighter readiness: dragging a 150-lb dummy, rolling and resetting hoses, powering a Keiser sled, carrying a 50-lb kettlebell, spraying hoses, completing air squats, and flipping tires—gear and all.
