Emergency Boiler Repairs restore heat to Yokota’s East Side

From left, Tetsuya Arahata and Yuya Suzuki, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration steam technicians, secure the boiler’s internal heating coils prior to removal during an emergency east side boiler system repair at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Feb. 6, 2026. The boiler uses steam internally to heat water, which is distributed to east side facilities and housing for comfort heating and hot water. Damage to an internal coil caused a loss of system pressure, requiring the boiler to be shut down to prevent further damage. (U.S. Air Force photo by Yasuo Osakabe)
