YOSC hosts annual spring bazaar Published April 3, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Chad Strohmeyer 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- On April 20 - 21, the Yokota Officers' Spouses' Club will host their annual spring bazaar at the Taiyo Community Center. Designed to raise money for the Yokota community, the bazaar offers patrons a chance to purchase goods from several Far East countries. "We do this for the Yokota community," said Kallie Culver, YOSC Bazaar chairman. 100 percent of the profits from our bazaars are donated right back to the community." The YOSC gives approximately $80,000 each year to community organizations and scholarships. Last year, the YOSC awarded $32,000 in scholarships to Yokota members of all ranks, military and civilian alike. With the bazaar's providing the largest source of revenue, they also require the most help. "The ability of the YOSC to continue to host bazaars depends greatly on volunteer support," said Culver. "We still need volunteers for our bazaar Saturday and Sunday to assist vendors with sales, provide Korean and Japanese language assistance, donate baked goods for the vendor lounge and to clean-up afterwards." Volunteers receive a chance to win door prizes and may shop early on Saturday from 8 to 8:50 a.m. "If people would like to donate baked goods, they can bring them to the entrance of the Taiyo Saturday at 7:45 a.m.," said Brooke Abrames, YOSC vendor lounge chairperson.
