Operation Damayan Published Jan. 14, 2014 By 374th Public Affairs 374th Airlift Wing 14 January 2014 -- When Typhoon Haiyan, one of the largest Typhoons in history, hit the Philippines, Operation Damayan commenced. Airmen from the 374th Airlift Wing, Yokota Air Base, Japan teamed up with service members from other bases and branches to safely evacuate people from areas hardest hit by the typhoon. Lt. Colonel Jeffrey Menasco, 36th Airlift Squadron Commander, said "I think everyone that participated walks away richer, not only as an Airman, but as a human being."
