Airborne 23: where US airlift meets Japan tactical insertion

Nine C-130J aircraft assigned to Yokota and Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, participated in the Airborne 23 training maneuver by airlifting 100 cargo bundles to predetermined drop zones for JGSDF ground operations training. The annual Airborne 23 training is the largest static-line paratrooper jump and cargo drop training maneuver between the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and JGSDF, which aims to improve coordination and operational efficiency between partner forces. Team Yokota aids Space Systems Command in historic US-JP space partnership

Members of the 730th Air Mobility Squadron and 374th Logistics Readiness Squadron, fasten a pallet to a semi truck in the Westpac hanger at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Jan. 17, 2023. The two units assisted the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) to deliver the first of two payloads to be hosted on Japan’s Geo-based Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS). As the payloads arrive in Japan, the SSC program will then begin the next stage of integration to the two QZSS host satellites and to prepare for launch, effectively unifying the two nations in space.
